From 10 August larger vehicles and trailers carrying household waste will be able to access the Household Waste and Recycling Centres. You must book an appointment to visit a Household Waste and Recycling Centre if you are:
- arriving in a larger vehicle or trailer
- bringing paint or chemicals in any vehicle (Hazlehead is the only site that can accept these materials)
Larger vehicles that require an appointment include:
Cars and small vans can continue to access the sites without a booking but will still require to bring proof of address.
Visiting our Household Waste and Recycling Centres
Before you arrive:
- Please do not visit an HWRC if you or anyone in your household are self-isolating or you have COVID-19 symptoms.
- There is no pedestrian access, you must arrive with waste in a vehicle.
- Please check the list of materials that you can dispose of at our sites.
What to do on arrival:
- Traffic management measures may be in place at the sites and there may be queuing restrictions. Please note that having a booking does not give priority and if there is a queue you will be required to join it.
- You should remain in your vehicle whilst queuing for access and the engine should be switched off when the vehicle is stationary.
- A member of staff will check you in when you arrive on site, please have your Aberdeen City proof of address ready to show, this can be in paper or electronic format. Staff will then direct you to a location to park your vehicle to un-load. There will be no assistance from staff to unload items from vehicles to the skips. You must be able to deposit your waste in the skips unaided or with a passenger’s assistance.
- We will be ensuring physical distancing measures are in place and must be followed by all site visitors and staff. Please keep 2m distance from others at all times.
- Please do not approach staff. If you need any assistance from staff during your visit, please wave to get their attention and keep 2m distance at all times.
- It is illegal to dispose of business and trade waste (including builders' waste) at Household Waste Recycling Centres. Staff will turn away any vehicles carrying commercial waste attempting to enter the sites.
