Statutory Consultation for Greenbrae and Scotstown Schools

Aberdeen City Council Propose:

To re-zone the part of Scotstown School Delineated (Catchment) Area to Greenbrae School and from Bridge of Don Academy to Oldmachar Academy.

Consultation report published 5 March 2014

Consultation period

A period of Statutory Consultation is scheduled between 4 November and 18 December, 2013 (inclusive), a total of 32 school days.

The period of public consultation must last a minimum of thirty school days. Monday 11 November 2013 is an in-service day and therefore excluded from contributing to the requisite number of days in the consultation period.

**Important: Consultation Document Update**

The following change to the Statutory Consultation Document should be noted:

Page 7, Paragraph 1.9 should read:

1.9 Potential involvement of Scottish Ministers

As this proposal does not involve school closures, it will not be considered for call-in by Scottish Ministers.

Page 12, Paragraph 2.5 should read:

The main driver for this proposal is not financial. It is relevant however to take
account of any financial implications arising from the proposal.
The total costs associated with schools are a combination of wages and
salaries and other costs including those related to consumables, rates, energy,
cleaning, grounds maintenance, transport, tenants repairs, waste management,
life cycle replacements, furniture/fittings replacement, supplies and services,
administration and ICT replacement.

The costs associated with this proposal are provided in Sections 5 and 6 of this

Public meeting

A public consultation meeting will be held on

Monday 18 November, 2013 from 7:00 – 8.30pm at Braehead School.

In addition, officers will provide one opportunity per school to meet with Parent Council representatives to discuss the proposals. 

Other requests from relevant partner organisations will be considered by officers as appropriate.

Meetings will be held with pupils (who are considered to be of a suitable age and maturity) and staff in the affected schools. A note will be taken of  questions, responses and views expressed and these will also be published on the council web site and within in the Consultation Report.
