Applying for a building warrant is a separate process from applying for planning permission and has a set procedure which should be followed. You will need to submit a completed application form and drawings and pay the statutory fees.
To make sure there is no delay in processing your application, it is important that all relevant information is clearly shown on the drawings with reference to the technical guidance where necessary. We recommend that you use an architect or building consultant to prepare the drawings. The drawings should show floor plans, elevations and sections of the existing situation and the proposal to a scale no less than 1:100. A location plan is also required at an appropriate scale to enable the officer to locate the proposed works.
Where structural design is involved, a structural design certificate completed by an approved certifier of design or other acceptable means such as structural calculations must be submitted. If you submit a suitable certificate of design you will receive a 10% discount on the lodging fee.
All drawings, certificates and forms must be signed by the applicant or their agent.
