How we use your information 

Aberdeen City Council is administering both the Newly Self-employed Hardship Fund (NSEHF) and the Business Grants Scheme on behalf of Scottish Government. We use the information provided to assess your application, or provide you with a response to your enquiry.   

The information which you provide the Business Growth team will be used for the following purposes: 

  • To update your grant application for NSEHF or Business Grants Scheme with additional information 

  • To update your appeal request to NSEHF or Business Grants Scheme with additional information  

  • To provide you with information around the available support for organisations and individuals in response to COVID19. 

  • To provide a response to your enquiry and to enable communication. 

Your personal data will be accessed by Council officers directly involved in the Business Growth team, the NSEHF team, or the Business Grants Scheme team. It may also be used for audit purposes and shared with Scottish Government upon their request.

How long we keep your information for 

We only keep your personal information for the minimum period of time necessary. We will follow national guidance as to how long we keep this information for.

You also have the right to make a complaint to the Information Commissioner's Office if you think we haven’t handled your data properly. 


Our legal basis 

Aberdeen City Council is the Data Controller for this information about you. Wherever the Council processes personal data, we need to make sure we have a legal basis for doing so in data protection law. We understand our basis in the General Data Protection Regulation to be Article 6(1)(e), as we consider that it is part of our public task to administer the NSEHF and the Business Grants Scheme on behalf of Scottish Government, and to provide information on the support available for organisations and individuals.
